How the fuck am I supposed to play guitar like this?



I was a bridesmaid in my sister's wedding and I got them done. I actually kind of like them on the right hand for weirdo picking but I can't fret for shit. I guess I'll have to get a harp...

Play slide guitar? Use only open tunings and fret so your nails don't get in the way

As a generally disgusting person I usually only cut my nails when they start to get in the way of playing guitar.

I pick/bite my nails like crazy so I have the opposite problems.

I have grooves in mine from guitar. Then I rake them off.

Just play and the problem will resolve itself. I haven't had to trim em in years and they aren't long

Wedge them between strings and call it prepared guitar.

It's tricky with nails. I've been learning a little classical guitar and you cant play it with short nails. But the way hold the plectrum on my electric means I always (painfully) rip off the nail on my index finger. And I've tried keeping that short but you use it so much with classical music it just doesn't work.

Oh the dilemmas nails pose.

OAM - how is it typing with nails like that?

It's been a bit of an adjustment. I have to hold my hands flatter against the keyboard and hit the keys with the pads of my fingers. I tried using the nails but I learned to touch type and I need the feel.

I pulled this crazy thing out of the attic to give it a try but the bridge was about to snap off because the glue had let go.

WTF is that thing?

I think it's some kind of a zither. I'm thinking about bringing it to a local luthier shop to see if they know anything about it.
