Cleaning your pedals????????? DO you??

SO I was just reminded of how much it pisses me the fuck off to have dirty, grimy, gross looking pedals. I get that if you gig sooooooooo much you don't have time, but let's be honest here, who does that? I mean really. So I have to ask. Does anyone else clean their pedals? If so, what do you use?

I've gone as far as taking nobs off and wiping them with Clorox wipes. Of course usually I don't have to worry about it because I don't beat the shit out of my pedals and they are never around animals.

What brought this up is I paid 400 dollars for a polished Toneczar Halophase recently (great fucking deal for that too BTW and love it to death!), and it was disgusting. Absolutely gross. Grime everywhere, hair on it, dust. Looked like someone stuck it in a cat box or something and forgot about it.

Am I alone in my OCD? I also rearrange my pedals every couple months. hahaha

If ONLY the patch cables would hold up to it. Geez. :)

I clean them everytime i clean the place. I dust them off using a paint brush that I move towards the entry point of my vacuum cleaner. Works wonders.

Yup. This as much cleaning as I'll do with my pedalboard:

But I only really do that if I've been playing somewhere dusty.

I keep my board in a PT carrying bag, so it's only open when I play with my pedlols. But I also have three dogs. I clean my pedals, board and bag every month. I remove the pedals, clean the dust/finger grease from them with a damp cloth with a mild soap. Tweezers are used to remove my GFs long hair that might have come entangled in the knobs. The board and bag are just vacuumed.

I've actually been diagnosed with having OCD though, when I was a kid. I'm not as hung up on cleanliness now as I used to be. I'm just neat... right?

My pedals don't even get too dirty when I have three cats. I would always wipe off my polished Faye Sing though otherwise it hasn't been too necessary :idk:

Very occasionally when I look closely and realise how ridiculously dusty they've got. Can't see it from standing distance though so I rarely care.

If they are really dirty or dusty I clean them because I imagine the dust will get inside the box and wreak havoc. I vacuum out my carrying case, etc.

Also, I definitely wipe them down with a microfiber cloth or eyeglasses cloth (damp if needed) before taking photos when I'm trying to sell them. (I "detail" them, for you car owners). It's a little anal because they're intended to be stepped on with our dirty shoes (or bare feet... ugh) but you know, "salesmanship".
