So... recently i bought a Superego for the drones. Many sounds made possible in that guy depending on how you use it. I thought it would be a good idea to make a thread on the subject (did a search and couldn't get past the first page of results). I did a demo (my first) of some effects in the Superego's fx loop. The chain is Sparkle Motion clone --> SS/BS Fuck --> EHX Superego -->Earthquaker Dispatch Master. Inside the Superego's fx loop i have a modded Crybaby --> LSTR clone --> Earthquaker Organizer --> Clari(not) clone --> Moog MF Ring --> Solidgold Fx Stutterbox.
I sometimes want to get a pedal just for the Superego to consume, so I want to know how you Superego. What effects do you like to use with it? I think an Arpanoid would sound great in the loop. Clips encouraged.

Tell me about it. I run a stereo setup for my band, so not only am I thinking about what i want for both chains, now I am thinking about what I want in the Superego's fx loop (I just use the Organizer now). An expression pedal for the ring mod or the tremolo would be nice so thats on the list. Also some flange, I think it is time for some flange in my life. I ordered a Count to Five, I can't wait to try that out with it.

I mostly end up using my Superego to drone on a note or chord and then just play with effects. For some reason I don't usually play guitar over it.
I mean I do sometimes, but most of the time I end up just turning knobs
Some pedals that I've really enjoyed in it:
A volume pedal - seriously, sounds basic, but adds so much to the Superego
Pitch Bay - used it to fatten up the tone, create organ tones, and to change the note. For example, drone a note with the Superego then set the root to zero and either sub or upper to a desired interval. This way you can create some simple two note drones
Arpanoid - yes it is as awesome as you suspect
Randy's Revenge was a lot of fun too, so was the Hummingbird
And fuzz, delay, and reverb are always a good time
I really want something warble-y for the Superego; a Pitch Pirate, Clari(not), Warped Vinyl, or something
Great video by the way, I kind of want to trade my Pitch Bay for an Organizer now, I feel like that would be much more useful to me.
I'll try to put together my own clip sometime
I also have a Count to 5 coming. I definitely want to experiment with the Count to 5 mode 1 in the Superego, but I'm also really curious to see how modes 2 and 3 compare, i.e., I wonder if I'll be able to record a single note/chord with the Count to 5 and drone out to it and how that will compare to the Superego

Unfortunately as a long time member of the Freudian Psychology Hate Club I can't put one on my pedalboard for fear of being sanctioned. I'm all about that Gliss though.

Amazing demonstration! I want a dispatch master, a superego and a stutterbox now. Thanks a bunch. But really, that board sounds great!

I don't, but I have a ton of Superego gas. In my mind though I wouldn't put anything in the loop -- I just want it for the layered Freeze function.
(in the end I can just do that in software though, so...)

Currently I use it for its most simple function: freeze, just to hold a note or chord. Another way I like to use it is layer a few notes with the pedal at the end of my chain and then play delay and dirt stuff over the drone. But there are a lot of fun and atypical uses of this pedal that don't use the loop and are still neat. I don't have in front of me but IIRC if you put all the knobs CCW and step on it (in Freeze mode) you actually get a volume drop or reverse swell that can be pretty neat with delay after it. There are also cool envelope sounds to be gotten with the switch to the right, just using the Wet volume, Layer set low and Glissando set to taste. Coolest EHX pedal, IMO.

I mainly use it in latch mode when playing in a band situation. Seems you have a bit more control over it. I used auto mode for the demo so you could hear the effects without me having to press it again and again.
I like that volume pedal idea. One advantage of a stereo setup is I always have a "dry" signal if I need it, so having control over the Superego's fx level would be nice. Also being able to fade it out appeals to me.
I did record a bit with the layer knob turned down but had the level to low so I edited it out. I've been toying with the idea of getting a cheap multi-fx unit like the Mooer Mod Factory but can't seem to pull the trigger. Bit Quest would be ideal but it's just a little too much money right now.

Good multi effect choice might be the Zoom MS70-CDR. A lot of those effects sound fucking sweet and you can chain a bunch of them.
The drones sound so good with the LSTR in the loop ugh. Want.

Yeah the zoom stuff is quality, stacking effects in them and turning them all on and off with the line selector module is rad
I have the ms 50g and hae made some mad wacky sounds with it
Does standard stuff too but if you want good reverbs go wi the cdr for sure
Also I'm now scoping out deals on the super ego

Felix, I watched the first few minutes of that vid. That was really pretty man.
I've wanted one for ages now, that just made it worse.
Anyone run a LAL sandstorm in the loop of theirs?
Paging UG, UG to the Superego thread please....

Here is a noisey thing I made a while ago featuring the super ego and some moogerfoogers..
