any tips guys? ive never shipped an amp.
'76 fender champ. so pop out the tubes first, wrap them up separately? or is that not necessary?
i'm guessing that shipping a 20 lb amp via USPS is not the best idea.

I would take the tubes out, wrap them up separately.
It is fine to use USPS, they ship up to 70 lbs domestically. Use parcel post, it is about as fast as FedEx or UPS ground but they won't hold it if it arrives early (FedEx and UPS often won't deliver a day early).
Maybe double box it. Bubble wrap in first box, packing peanuts in second box.

So, something you might not have thought about: how strong is the baffle board? I had the speaker posts rip out of the baffle in an old Silvertone 12" combo. I guess from the weight of the speaker and the force of the manhandling of the package. Idk what really you can do to try to avoid that happening, though.
But yeah, just get a shit ton of the big bubble wrap, and create a good 2 or 3 inches of cushion on each side of the amp, inside the box, so the amp is suspended tightly in the box within the bubble shell. I'd take the tubes out, and wrap them up in some bubble wrap or something, and just like, tape them to the chassis inside the box somewhere so they don't move around.
