Fuck, he made a lot of movies that moved me.

For a comic, he was damned good at serious roles.

Yeah, just heard about this.

It was reported that he'd had a bout of severe depression. This is why I hate people who claim unipolar/bipolar depression isn't a real illness. That aside, my childhood would've been far less interesting without Richard Pryor and Robin Williams. RIP

I don't even know what to say about all this...it's really crushing when someone who's made all our lives funnier passes away like this.

It reminds me of this bit from Watchmen:

Heard joke once:

Man goes to doctor. Says he's depressed. Says life seems harsh and cruel.

Says he feels all alone in a threatening world where what lies ahead is vague and uncertain.

Doctor says "Treatment is simple. Great clown Pagliacci is in town tonight. Go and see him. That should pick you up."

Man bursts into tears.

Says "But, doctor..."

"...I am Pagliacci."

So sad. He was truly one of a kind.

This hit me pretty hard. His movies were a big part of my childhood. This is the first celebrity death that has actually made me this sad. Really sucks that this guy that always came across as a cool, happy dude was in such a bad state. I'm pretty sure I'll be watching some of his movies + being sad this week.
