I just kind of unexpectedly got a job in Cary and will be moving there in a couple of weeks.

Your coming closer!!!!!!
Never been to Cary but Raleigh is a pretty cool spot. Big on history, alot of new revamping of the inner city, big on the arts, and they love to party. The only place I really knew about was DiveBar but it closed down a while back. I think I played a place called Slim's before but I wouldn't really recommend that place to people unless you were looking to score something in a creepy / shady / run down back patio.....

Re: Tell Me About Raleigh/Cary, North Carolina
I've been a few times, and will be going again for Hopscotch in September. Plus it turns out that a couple of old friends from my high school days live there now.
There seems to be a weird confluence of lawyers, homeless people and hipsters there. It definitely seems like there's a ton of bands in the area, bunches of them quite good.
In the context of Hopscotch, I dug King's Barcade a lot as a venue, and Capital Club 16 as a bar/restaurant. Really enjoyed starting my days at The Morning Times. There were tons of other venues/establishments that I liked, almost all of which I'm blanking on at the moment. CAM Raleigh (the local modern art gallery) was alternately a fantastic or utterly horrible venue for shows, depending entirely on how the bands took advantage of the space (a cavernous, minimalist white box). Slim's is kind of funky, but I've met people who totally dig it. I saw Sleep at (I think) The Pour House, which was pretty great - fairly sizable place with overpriced beer and annoyed bartenders (but that was part of the charm?).
Anyhow, PM me if you wanna get together for beers this September!

I'm more like a mids-ist than a bassist.
