We already have a perfectly good verb. Giving someone a gift is kindness. Gifting someone a gift is just confusing.
I don't mean to be prescriptivist but come on.
Gifting

Re: Gifting
Give is derived from gift.
In one of my essays for school I thought I was being all clever by using gift as a verb since it's originally old norse and the essay was on Beowulf.
The professor wanted me to change it because she "hated when kids use nouns as verbs".
I won.
