one thing i noticed the second time thru is...

the random shit that u see, that seems like it should be relevant, stuff that you might not notice the first time, is often referenced in another episode.

theres a photo of dora lange as a little girl. it's at her moms house in ep2. rust locks his eyes on it and theres a slow close up on it. shes standing in the woods surrounded by 5 creepy dudes on horses wearing masks.
in the next episode, rust is over at martys in teh daytime, the whole family is there. rust looks over at the living room where martys girls (this is '95) are sitting, and there are 2 toy horses placed delicately in the shot.

the first time iw ondered why rust would play "angel of the morning" on the jukebox, that song is horrible. that was the last episode i think...(ep 7) in an earlier episode, in '02 rust goes back to the church that was set on fire, where they found a painting depicting the dora lange murder. 7 years later, there are 2 angels painted on teh wall

also there are a million crosses, like everywhere you look theres a cross. in the opening credits there are about 100 crosses. the coolest one is the face of marty superimposed over 2 highways that form a cross.

there are tons of easter eggs in this show which is awesome.

i think marty is involved in a vast secret society of child molesters and murderers. when rust started getting close to the yellow king, carcosa stuff marty tried to dissuade him. at first i thought, well why wouldnt marty just kill rust, especially after he comes back in '10 and shows marty that videotape and his storage shed and stuff? rust hasnt made the connection between marty and the tuttles yet. i thought it was interesting that the first thing marty did was load his gun after he agreed to meet marty for a beer, right after marty got done talking to those 2 cops. i think marty was anticipating that rust might had already figured out martys role

but really i have no idea! which is why it's fun. this guy on reddit has a theory that is pretty close to the one i had, that there is actually a network of child abusers and marty is a piece of that. but the reddit guy was way more specific than i ever thought of getting.
