Dumb Speaker Cable Question

Hey, I have a combo amp and another amp head that I would like to plug into the cabinet part of the combo. Currently the cabinet has a speaker cable that isn't long enough for this task, so I was wondering if any of you know of some kind of extension speaker cable that I could buy with a 1/4 input on one and and a 1/4 plug on the other.

Thanks!

Not to rock the boat, but...

If you are talking speaker-level audio, DO NOT use a guitar cable. It is just asking for trouble. When you use a guitar cable with thin little conductors with a powerful amplifier, you run the risk of overheating the amp and causing damage.

Also, consider whether you want to trust your amp, particularly if it is a tube amp, to the recommended Hosa product. I have had a few Hosa products fail on me after minimal usage. They always fail at the connectors. I consider the quality of their connectors on the same level as Radio Shack connectors, if not worse. If you use that connector with a tube amp, don't be surprised when the connector fails and does considerable damage to the amp. Also, don't be surprised when your cat or your dopey friend accidentally disconnects the adapter and causes your amp to fail, since there is nothing keeping the wires in the connector except friction.

Either find a dedicated cable advertised specifically as a speaker cable, or make one. Two quality Switchcraft connectors, a run of lamp cord from Home Depot, and some solder is all you need.

Sorry - I didn't mean to imply he should run an instrument cable in place of a speaker cable. Is that unit only for lower level signals?

Thanks for the info on HOSA connectors. I've not had that problem in the past, but will definitely look for something else when it comes to amps and things that require a load!

I've had the same Hosa speaker cables for 8 years and never had a problem.
