Wow, I really, REALLY hope this makes it. Castle of the Winds was my first PC game. Good times switching off with the girl down the street each time we died to a weak-ass kobold or those shithead manticores.
I thought the first game was more difficult than the second, but the second was way more fun.

Gotta play CotW2 now.

I thought the first one really was luck based until you got to the second town, but the forty level dungeon in the second was crazy town! I'm really sad I don't have a way of playing this game at the moment, so I REALLY hope this happens!

Man, I always restarted my game until I could walk into the armor shop and find those BADASS gauntlets with the claws. I really liked the inventory system in that game. My strongest memory of the first one is actually the very first corridor in the dungeon, that first kobold...if you weren't properly geared, even that guy could kill you.
I never beat the second one. Mostly just went back and forth between floors, trying to get good gear and level up in preparation for the lower floors...but I'd always get my ass kicked before that happened.

Enchanted gauntlets of slaying! The only reason I made it to the bottom was because I used "rune of return" almost every time anything attacked me, and I used that detect traps spell to find all the trap doors. So, I fell all the way to the bottom It was seriously awful at that point, though because if you actually manage to kill sutur and get his crown they make you hike up all forty floors without using "rune of return!"

I'm gonna go get my laptop and start downloading!

I always call rogues "rouges" in MMOs, just to be an ass.
