I'm talking about hockey for any who may be confused. It's nearly 7 am, I've been awake for almost 24 hours, and I'm drunk. A goddamn good day to be Canadian.

Man, those Swedes looked surly waiting to receive their silver. Not that I can blame them - the awarding ceremony took friggin' forever. Long time to stand up there thinking "We're #2! We're #2!"

This is definitely one of those sports where I think it would be way fucking better to win bronze than silver. Sure you get a silver medal which is seriously cool, but you still lost.

And I feel bad for Sweden, no Henrik Sedin, Henrik Zetterberg or Michael Backlund. That's some serious offensive talent missing.

I read an article yesterday that said it's almost always better to win bronze than silver.

People who win silver are always saying to themselves "What the fuck did I do wrong?" and people who win bronze are like "Hey, at least I medaled. I was so close to not."

I called it last week to a coworker that is a hockey nut [he use to play] we was talk'n Olympic hockety and I just said Canada, he said you're calling Canada and I said yep, they'll crush everyone

Ugh, that stupid fucking riot. I was at the game that caused that, and it was NOT hockey fans who were responsible. It was a bunch of hooligans who went to downtown Vancouver with the express intent of causing a riot, win or lose. Hockey fans don't go to games with molotov cocktails and crowbars with them, assholes do. I got briefly caught up in the riot on my walk between the rink and the skytrain (Vancouver's above-ground subway), and I just wanted to get the hell away from it as soon as possible. I still haven't been to a Canucks game since then, not sure that I will anytime soon either. That experience sucked.
