I'll be in Edmonton again for a couple days on the way further west and have a day to spend in the city. So while I'm there I figure I'll do some shopping. What are Edmontons best shops for vinyl, beer, whisky, and music gear?

Also comic books my lady friend is into that.

Avenue Guitars is Whyte Ave (think that is 82nd ave...) is awesome. Tons of cool stuff. A bit pricey as far as my american wallet was concerned, though.
Across the street from that there are a few cool bars with good beer and bourbon and a place to shoot pool...Don't remember the name of the place though since I was taking advantage of the bar. There are a lot of neat places on Whyte, so you may just want to take some time to wander around there.
Freecloud records is a good place to hunt for vinyl from what I remember...

Vinyl: Blackbyrd Myoozik - 10442 82 (Whyte) Ave... Also, Permanent Records on Gateway Blvd (but I haven't been there myself, so I won't vouch for it)

Beer: Sherbrooke Liquor Store - 11819 St Albert Trail.... Also, pretty much any non-chain liquor store has a decent beer selection: Keg & Cork on 99 Street, Little Guy Liquor in Sherwood Park. There are even some chains that have decent selections (because they are so massive), like Wine & Beyond. But if you can only do one beer stop, make it Sherbrooke.

Whiskey: Probably the exact same answer as the beer one. I'm more of a scotch guy - if scotch is your type of whiskey, and you just want to drink some, check out The Bothy (5482 Calgary Trail). Great selection, but you're buying by the glass, not the bottle to take home. And it can lead to an expensive night, but you can try some dandy's!

Music Gear: As osbornkt mentioned, Avenue Guitars is excellent for window shopping, they tend to be on the higher price point. We have more Long and McQuades than you can shake a stick at.... I like Myhre's Music, but it's a lot of acoustic and folk instruments. Axe Music & West End Rock Shop - big stores like Long and McQuade, but different brands. If you're after pedals or some more hard to get accessories, feel free to check out http://www.noisesupply.ca, if you you see anything you like, maybe we can meet up as you pass through (it's a very small business - I don't have a physical store front, I warehouse and ship out of my home).

As for comics, I got some comic books years ago based on Indiana Jones and Labyrinth from Wizards on 109th street, north of Whyte Ave. It's pretty small though, but for my level of comic book interest it was sufficient. There are quite a few random little stores scattered throughout Edmonton for comics.

From what I understand all the hardcore comic folk seem to like Happy Harbor Comics (10729 104 Ave NW), so you may want to start there, but I can't personally vouchm because I've never been.
