Ive always liked flatwounds on basses but never really did much with guitars with them but today i found an old 11-51 gibson set and tried it out on my rareocaster and......
Wow, liking these for doom, anyone else using them?

I use D'addario Chromes on everything, the heaviest gauge possible.

The closest I've gotten are half wounds and I really dug them after a while. Might have to try full flatwounds next.

I've tried em a couple times and like em but I just personally prefer the extra bite from regular strings.
Dunwich Nick uses em pretty much exclusively, I'm sure he'll chime in.

Thomastik-Infeld George Bensons, .012-.053 (or .014-.055 if I can get away with it).

My guitar player uses flatwounds. Not sure what type. They really thickened up his sound. Took it to a level that eq'ing alone couldn't do.

yea i dig flats. I run them on every guitar except the LP Custom since the set that came with it was roundwound and I have not replaced them yet.
56-13 XL Chromes for C Standard on LP
70-17 on baritone V in A Standard

Flatwounds all the way here. I run D'Addario 13-56, but replace the 56 with a 65. It's expensive, but they last way longer than rounds. Couldn't go back now, flats for life!!!
