or a broken belt, really. as in all the fan etc. belts, which are broken and have me stuck in an overly priced motel in Rawlins, Wyoming where Lulu is amusing herself by exploring the room. i'm utterly freaked out but acting like nothing's wrong, but this really, really sucks. i'm afraid that it'll fuck up the situation with the new job, and i'm just worried in general. i don't have the funds for an extended gambit of this nature. send truck monos, and some for me too so i don't go insane here in the frozen wastelands,

i'm working on that...cancelling motel reservations i'd made on a four-day schedule, the fellow who's gotten me the job, etc. i have to let Tyler know i'm delayed.

Try not to worry too much, man, those belts are easy to replace. Much easier than a lot of things in there. You've got this, dude.

what i'm worried about is that the delay will fuck me up with the job. and i can't reach anyone or get any answers because it's bleedin' Christmas Eve and they're all in transit. i don't even know when people will GET the messages i'm sending them. i don't know how i'm keeping from totally freaking out.

well, the truck is fixed now. it cost over $450 to do, and i've been stuck here since Christmas eve and am here tonight because the truck wasn't done in time for checkout. the folks at the job are being very understanding, but i need to get on with this sooner rather than later. i hope i never have to travel long distances alone again...it hurts too much and takes too much out of me. of course, if i had savings and a late-model car i might feel differently.

copied/pasted from another forum because i've been going since 6am and it's now 11PM:

after thirteen hourts of driving i'm now safely out of Wyoming and esconced at the Motel 6 in St. Joseph, MO. when you can't take drugs while travelling, the 20 oz. Red Bull is your friend. it was only the last hour and a half or so that i was really starting to fade. the forced rest in Rawlins must have helped. now i have to wind down so i can get some sleep. Lulu is SO HAPPY to be out of the carrier after all that time. she's such a good travelling kitty...most of the time today she just slept, and didn't even use the box the times i stopped to let her because she was all meowy. good God, do i wish i could smoke a bowl.

the funniest thing today was the radio station out of Omaha that was letting people make requests on their website, which led to a wildly schizophrenic playlist ranging from Foreigner and Fleetwood Mac to Depeche Mode's "Personal Jesus" (!) and "Friday I'm In Love" by the Cure.

stick a fork in me, i'm done. i only have to drive 630 miles tomorrow rather than 730 which i did today. it was the last hundred that really did me in.
