Expecting this thread to be as dead as a doornail till mañana.

I picked this up for the guys at the studio. A 50s Ampex 300-4 tubed reel to reel recorder. Its been in the shop getting serviced for quite awhile, but its at the studio now. They are gonna shit rainbows come next saturday.
Also picked up a nice 4 track teac reel to reel for one of my drummers, and a really nice akai 2 track reel to reel for my bassist.
good times. the other drummer got peppermint candy....he knows why I don't buy myself gifts other than always, so...kinda like not having a job and the weekend comes. also with the family we don't exchange gifts anymore, just for the kids.

I'm not hoping for much, some dvds, cds, coffee related jargon. I already got a guitar for xmas so anything else is extra. Hopefull a big muff with wicker?

Got a sweet new Soldering station from my parents!
Heats up pretty much immediately and is just sooo much cooler than my old one, which was starting to fail on me.

btw I own the studio so it's sort of a gift to myself, although the crew that I work with runs the studio day to day. i wish it would have been ready when we cut the 7", but sooner than later we're recording a bunch of "songs" and I can't wait to use it myself. I'll be down there this weekend too helping to work out any kinks.

I built the studio with all analogue gear with tubes and tape, and that's just grown over the years. daddy long stroke is an ampex mm1100. So yeah, we do 2" tape Its been many years since i've been involved with working there, and the great people I work with have pro-tools set up now too. seems to bring in more people. but when i record or we record its a real hands on affair for me and i stick with what I like best. tubes and tape
