He does actually have a pretty interesting use of effects in there that I had never even really considered trying before.

I consider the harpsichordy 12string jangle to be kind of like an effect, itself.

I was dragged along to see John Brown live a year or so ago by a hippie friend of mine.
It was pretty fucking rad, this song especially.

Coming from Australia, I cannot fucking stand John Butler.
He's a great player, but he's just the fucking king of the douche-bag "hippies" that girls seem to blindly get moist over.

Based on my exposure to the super hot audience, I'd agree.
Hater.

Yeah. Shit's rough.
He is a great musician, and I appreciate his DIY/independent approach, but he shoots fish in a barrell sometimes and that annoys me. I've heard him do one or two things that are mind-blowing on an acoustic, that start entering that Michael Hedges sort of territory, so I also get irritated that he doesn't do more of that.
I mean, sure, put out the vagina melting, no-brainer, but put out the insane chops concept album alongside.
He's well overplayed down here as well.

Yeah I honestly can't stand him anymore.
I used to love him...I'll be honestly I used to be a pretty big hippie.
But honestly, all of his music, save this song, has been ruined for me by him being the Australian Bono
Edit: wow, so I used honestly three times in three sentences and I used it improperly once...can you tell I've been drinking?

Yeah dude, its gross.
I feel sometimes like some artists just need to be grabbed by the head and told, "see this awesome shit here? You did that. Just do more of that!"

The guy's kind of a wanker. Didn't treat his band all that great either.
