I think it was Nora Billy that asked for a demo in the GAS thread of the Big Spider. So I recorded some quick demos before dinner tonight!

That guitar demo was AWESOME.

Great job showing the tonal range of the pedal. Can really hear how it produces those ghost octave's.
Was that just your iphone sitting infront of the pedal with the amp behind? What was the off camera switching going on?
Off to watch the bass demo

Thanks man!
And yeah, it was just my iphone sitting in front of the pedal with the amp behind. The off camera switching was just going back between neck and bridge pickup, and I also switched the rhythm circuit on once as well!

Thanks skullservant. You are a true gentleman. I will have to pick one up one day when I have an amp that can take advantage of the low end.

No problem duder!
With the amps that I've had and tried it with, I think that this 6550 loaded Verellen handles the low end the best.
The cab has a Delta Pro 12a which is a full range bass speaker, but it sounds just as good with guitar, and more importantly with fuzz too

I had a Sunn Sceptre that ran 6550's that also really enjoyed the Big Spider as well!
I also had a Peavey RockMaster which used 6L6's which also handled it well too. That head was a pedal moster.

just fyi, creepy fingers makes a great version of the ibanez standard fuzz too. its called the harakiri(ibanez standard fuzz spec). i think the creepy fingers sounds closer to my superfuzz of the two...specially regards to octave overtones. The ibanez standard fuzz was a clone of the superfuzz, and the verellen is a clone of the standard fuzz. i dont a ibanez standard fuzz to compare, but the same fuzz circuit was used in an ibanez wah/fuzz that is alot cheaper and easier to find than the standard fuzz. there are a couple on ebay for instance. i've got one incoming. really want the standard cause it looks so damn cool.
the creepy fingers box isn't as awesome as the verellen, but they both sound amazing.

Yeah Brad's CF build quality is great stuff. It's funny because I usually HATE octave fuzz, but I love the Big Spider. Not sure what it is about it that I enjoy so much. I usually stack the Big Spider into a SS/BS Mini and then a 6 band EQ, it's like my perfect bass tone EVER

I wish the moogerfoogers were as solid, the verellen is how i wish all pedals were built, nice angle for comfortable switching, super solid construciton. and the insides are no different. I need to get my stack on with it

always reading about the mini, is that a distortion/boost then? i've got ss/bs super puzzle and fuck od, and both are super nice. his superfuzz clone gets close, but its the interesting ideas he's incorporated that make it a pedal that stands on its own.

Yeah the Big Spider is a tank for sure! I'd like cold-rolled steel and wood for all of my pedals.
The Mini is like the angry brother of the Fuck. Instead of the crackle footswitch, you have a bias control, and instead of a regular tone knob that rolls off highs that the Fuck has, the Mini has a 2 band EQ. It's also got more gain. I'd say it's definitely worth having both, because although they are similar they cover vastly different ground in certain scenarios!

Big Spider love.
Only thing that would make me love it more is if it were bassier.

Did I read somewhere that Ben made a Big Spider with a clean blend? This is one pedal I actually wouldn't mind having one on. It sounds like it rapes your low end a bit. Bad ass tones though.

Yeah, I pair mine with a 6 band EQ that is always on that bumps the lows and the low mids. When you crank it, you can hear the subs but at any sort of normal volume it can sound a little bit thin.

Yeah he is doing blend mods now, I think they are like $50 for the mod?

The Standard Wau Fuzz is slightly different (in the eq section) to the regular Standard Fuzz and the Big Spider is a clone of the Wau Fuzz circuit. Having built both I prefer the regular Standard but both are great. Just got a Standard myself (200 euro on ebay) and finding my clones are dead on sound wise.
Was surprised how big the pedal is in real life:
