Distortion Man or Fuzz Man...?

So, this is something i am struggling with lately...I don't know which one i am.
Of course i can be both, no issues with that...but I would love to be one. I would love to have a setup which just has one type of dirt that i can COMMIT to...and not over complicate things.
so i was thinking...do you guys struggle with this? or you've already decided?

eh, just get a big muff and be both.
edit: i just use whatever is necessary to get the sounds in my head....out through my amp.

I'm a fuzz into a distortion kind of guy. I think most distortions sound too sterile so I always stack a fuzz into it to give a better texture

rat into muff? that's what I've tried that and it does sound huge.

Right now in my guitar chain I'm running a Harmonic Percolator into a Way Huge Fat Sandwhich. It's nasty awesome.
But Rat into Muff is also really great too!

Maybe! That's a good possibility. I only use 100% clean amps. I could see how it could be finicky though. I usually keep the distortion knob dimed which takes over most of the sound, but when I dial it back the Perc shines through it

I <3 fuzz more, personally. As has been said, I think a good muff-type pedal can straddle the line between fuzz and distortion. Using it to push an amp on the edge of breakup is mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
Plus a nice raspy/velcroy fuzz is super hot.

these days it's fuzz, but for a long time i was running one amp for each and i loved the sound of both together.

This is good too.
I've got a Verellen Big Spider going into a SS/BS Hawk for my fuzz side and then the other side is the Fat Sandwich and HP. Great tones together!

so for a good 2 years i was a fuzz man…starting with a regular Big Muff and climaxing in my BAT Sarcophagus…and i still love it…but recently i added a Fat Boost and OCD to my board, and those two together give me great distortion tone…and now I'm struggling to choose one, even for the same song...

Rat into ANYTHING sounds great. I love fuzz and dirt of all kinds, but for the last couple of days I've found myself using my Rat pretty much exclusively. If I had to have just one dirt pedal (a scenario too horrible to contemplate very seriously) I could probably get by with just the Rat.
