i realized my pedalboard is lacking in synths.
i used to mess around with the line 6 fm4 which had some cool stuff going on, but i'm looking for something a little more compact...and better sounding

as of now i'm leaning towards a bit commander, seems to have that nice thumpy sound to it
what say you my little fuzzies?

school me on synth peds.
this is for guitar for anyone that cares

What kind of synthy sounds are you looking to get?

The Bit Commander slays on guitar. Tracks brilliantly, relatively inexpensive, the filter control is useful to get rid of harshness when you have the upper octave turned up. And yeah, it is definitely 'thumpy'.
Only downside is that it always sounds kinda heavy/fuzzy, but if you like that then it's a REALLY good option. I haven't tried pairing it with an env. filter but I'm guessing that would make it even synthier.

check out the OTO BISCUIT/Der OTO pedal. it is pretty heady. a bit crusher/processor with wave shaping, delay, pitch shifting etc....and its also a monosynth with 16 step sequencer, 2 oscillators, lfo etc.

pll pedals are soooooooo much kick ass. infanem has the analogue harmony synth, snazzy fx had the mini ark, schumann had the PLL. i'm pretty sure the schumann has clones in production, otherwise they go used for a couple thousand. I've got all three and they are each amazing in their own right.

Also, the Digitech Synth Wah is cool. It's probably on the cheaper-sounding side like the FM4, but if you can pick one up for cheap it's worth a try. I've been meaning to pick up another for a while now.

that probably would've helped if i went more in depth in my OP
i guess something with a lot of low end, that may or may not sound like it's tearing through my speakers. not in a shrill high end way but just for lack of a better word gnarly.

which would lead me to my next question,
backwardsvoyager how does the bit commander stack with other dirt?

Casavettes, how low does your little wah go?

Have you considered an octave (or two octave) down pedal w/ wah?

Because that's a good sound and might get you the sound you're looking for.

hmm
its not crazy low
but i never really thought of doing that, have to try it with my organizer

my only concern with that is when the wah is at its lowest, the sound can be lacking presence.

yeah from what you're saying the Bit Commander would definitely be a good contender.

I run Bit Commander -> ss/bs Mini -> Boss FZ-2 and i think it stacks well, the mini just adds some subtle grind/breakup to it whilst the FZ-2 seems to accentuate the synthi-ness and make it more heavy and cutting.
I don't see why it wouldn't stack well with most other dirt boxes, especially if it's before any of them in the chain.

Running a boost at the end of your chain may help add presence.
