That other thread got me thinking. What fuzzes do you guys like or think sounds good through dirty amps?

I run my Orange TH-30 with the gain channel dialed back to a sorta crunch tone and it sounds amazing with a variety of boosts/dirt/fuzz pedals. A few off the top of my head include the Black Forest, Ritual, BAT built Honey Bee OD clone, Fuck, TAFM, Iron Pig (RAT clone), Supercollider, Algal Bloom, Squarewave+, Warthog (Bee Baa clone), King's Head, SSStampede, Wizard Fuzz, etc, etc.

Really depends on how dirty the amp is tho as many dirty amps, when hit with fuzz, will just get oversaturated and give out that blocking distortion tone, very choppy, messy, and unnatural sounding. A fine line. Honestly, the Orange is the only amp I own that prefers fuzz on the dirt channel as opposed to the clean channel. With my other amps, I've had success running my cleans totally clean OR with a little gain for a clean-ish tone, then bringing the pedal dirt. Just gotta experiment.

I run my amp pretty dirty most of the time, and I think the Tone Machine, with the octave turned off, sounds fantastic through it. Also, The Elements absolutely cranked through my amp. Hair of the Dog as well.

Yeah, forgot about the Elements. FTM is killer too.

I liked the way my ritual fuzz sounded into a dirty amp or into a dirt pedal. When going straight to a clean signal I thought it was a little too buzzy and gated. Going into a dirty signal opened it up and made it sound huge. HUGE.

I also like my TAFM set at lower to mid gain going into a dirt pedal or dirty amp. I usually run it into my Rat Tail and Sparkle Motion. Going into a clean signal I find it sounds a hair too scooped.

I think fuzz sounds better with a slightly broken up amp, the fz-2 and Supercollider especially

depends what sound/texture you're going for but
oscillating fuzz
octave fuzz
usually sound great to me


edit: i'm pretty sure any fuzz i've ever used into a dirty amp has sounded interesting into a dirty amp.

I really like Fuzz Faces when the amp is cranked.
