Agreed on both counts. Morbid as it may be, I'm sure I'm not the only one surprised he lived this long.

Nope. On the one hand, it's obviously a drag, because he's one of my favorite songwriters ever.

On the other hand, one can live like Lou Reed and still make it to 71.
