Hey guys. I want to get back into it again and I would like to throw some new/different pick ups in my tele. I will probably spend most of my time playing rock-y type music (surprise) but you know... Don't want to get something limiting. I have heard a lot of people complain that some tele sets have a crap neck pick up and overly bright bright pick up.

At this point I am leaning towards the fender nocaster's but I am open to suggestions. I won't be able to afford them for awhile so I have time to look around.

Also if it really matters (I know to some people every piece in the chain will effect their suggestion) I have an 1985 american made tele and a vintage (70's?) bassman ten (4x10)

What about a Tele sized P90 bridge and Texas Special for the neck???

I am a big fan of Heavy Air pickups. I put a set of their Sweetcorn Blunderbuss' in a MIM tele.
That guitar went from sounding like junk when clean to one of my favorites. I now wish I hadn't sold it. :/

GFS neovins are actually quite nice for rock and dead quiet. I just got a tele that gas their rail bridge pickup and I love it but it might be a lil too high output for most uses. I also really like the fender vintage noiseless neck pickup but I don't have the matching bridge pickup to comment on.

I like love Seymour duncan's 48 broadcaster bridge [or whatever it's called]... can do country and metalz with the right setup.. and the 54 neck a bit.. I have to admit I'm not big on tele neck pickups.. I have a p90 in mine.

I have a Squire Thinline Tele and it can get pretty beefy with the stock pickups but it does have an F hole...

I have some Lollar Special T in mine and it sound great!

I have a set of Porter's in my partscaster, good for everything from filth down to Johnny Cash covers. If I was going to be buying another pair, I'd consider the T90 series, especially in the neck position.

If I had to buy a pair of tele pickups today, I'd either go with something from Rose on the extreme budget end or something from Zhang's specials page.

Those T90s really interest me...Might be the answer to my "I can't fit everything I want to in my tele" problem!

I would steer clear of the nocasters if you don't like weak neck pickups. It's blaaaaand. The bridge pickup is awesome, but.

My fave tele pickups are broadcaster repro bridge (so gnarly and nasal) and something modern like fender's twisted tele in the neck. I seen a guy with some sort of tele-sized p90 in the neck (Rio Grande maybe?) and it sounded prooty good.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone, they were quite varied. I was sort of hoping there would be more of a general "these are the bomb.com"

I realized tonight that I actually had a relatively good idea of the sound I wanted so I contacted someone who makes them with an example and description. Hopefully they will hit me back up within a couple days.
