that place is cray: buchla announced a three day sale and people acted like it was the fucking apocalypse. some people were psyched (duh) while others made all manner of pronouncements over the fate of what is now buchla electronic musical instruments (don sold it), new easel was cancelled, 200e series was cancelled, joe mccarthy rising from the grave to kill us all. twelve pages in one day, about devaluing their investment (not instrument). fucking lawyers and doctors man, no wonder i've been registered their for 6 years and have 10 posts. yous are free, like wild horses and i loves yous. sell your stupid drone box thing and er'body get modular synths so we can bitch about switching power supplies together.

I am on muffs and I don't normally come across people like that there, but I am not usually in the Buchla & Serge sub forum . I find Muffs to have a similar but nerdier vibe as here. I guess there are going to be people like that when dealing instruments that cost so much. At least they aren't Blooze Lawyers and Geetar Dentists.

I always try to participate over there when I log in but it seems everything is WAY over my head, so then I just end up sitting around and actually playing my modular instead of talking about it

but fuck me. that site layout SUCKS.

i love buchla stuff for so many reasons. it really does sounds and play like nothing else. but those folks were talking like they were buying a shore house and the state build a dune to protect in the view. they're the same people that ruin everything cool that's even a little out of production. like the ASSHOLE on ebay that single-handily drove the prices of all lovetone through the roof by listing shit at insane prices for over a year, every new listing reference him and it stuck. 1k for a meatball? alright dude.

on the other hand, it's a good source for info and news. some people seem cray in a fun way. it's just not ILF nawmean?

I know a guy from the wiggler forum that has a Buchla system. Shit is insane, but damn it is prohibitively expensive. Wiggler forum is the best place on the net for modulars, great BST market as well. Don't get into modulars if you have no self control over gas, that is all. I sold my eurocrack system. These days I just go there for the Metasonix and general gear sub forums.
