It's the Walmart of the Auto Industry... I've had friends that worked there as mechanics and loved it and hated it... Wherever you go make sure to get the Carfax and take it somewhere else for a quick inspection...

Just be careful around anybody trying to sell you a vehicle, man. They will lie through their teeth if it means getting you closer to buying it.

Fuck. None of us can read. I was so stoked about Chapstick but then this. Haha.

I recently bought a car and went to Carmax and dealerships. The biggest difference is that Carmax can't certify per-owned vehicles. Also Carmax cars start around 12 or 13k, depending on what you were looking for. I ending up going wit the dealership, which had nothing to do with carmax. The service at Carmax was really good and the salesman was really honest and nice. There was a small chip in the car I was potentially going to buy and the guy said he would ask the shop about it and he said that they would replace the whole wind sheild for free. So some positives, but it's all about the car.

If you don't want to be hassled or have to negotiate at all, go carmax, if not do whatever, but get those car fax and have a trusted mechanic inspect the car first.
