I know this has been brought up from time to time but what's the best reverb options? Especially on the cheap ($150 and below). Something that works well with dirt and helps create some nice ambience.

I think the EQD Ghost Echo is the winner, mostly because it has an Attack control which really helps when running it with fuzz and high gain. It's 165 new but might pop up used or on sale. (It's worth it new anyway)

The ghost was on my radar. I think the $150 cap is more to exclude the excellent and equally expensive items like strymon and such. I've never messed around with reverb too much (had a chicklet years ago). Just wanting to add some magic to my notes.

I really regret selling mine now that I'm putting more black metal style shit into my songs, ugh.

That sounds promising. I'm lookin for something that can cover the drone aspect as well as some nice blackened atmospheric sounds. Thanks for the input!

Although I'm none to pleased with the amount of space it takes up and the minimal hiss it adds, the Alesis Wedge is definitely worth a look. I got mine for $50 on ebay, and the amount of tweakability it has is unbeatable. Each preset has like, 16 parameters and you can save them to a bank for recall. It does pretty much everything except spring though. I'm trying to find a similar pedal that does plate reverb with super long decay in a small footprint. Nothing seems to specialize in plate though. :idk:

I really like my TC Hall of Fame. Lots of toneprints to try out.

Just beat me to it.
I'm always spruiking the TC Trinity, which is just a Hall of Fame. I think they're reasonably priced. And you can edit your own tone prints now, so that's kinda cool. I've never played the ghost, but everyone around here loves it. EQD make gnarly shit.

Ghost Echo is awesome. I miss mine pretty bad. Matt, the other guitarist in the band runs a nano Holy Grail and it sounds pretty good on a full band setting. Sometimes by itself it sounds a little too digital for lack of a better word. They can be found for about 50 bucks used.

Ghost Echo. Sounds great with dirt, sounds great clean. Can be huge sounding or subtle. Do yourself a favor and pick up a used one. You will not regret it.

If you want to stay in the ILF family, keep a look out for the Dr. Scientist Reverb.

Shit sounds awesome.

I appreciate the help guys. I've been looking at the ge for so long. Might as well go that route. Especially since it works well with dirt. I believe it all has to do with that attack control. Just have to free up some funds to make it attainable. Maybe I'll see if anyone in ilf have one they'd like to trade.

i tried a LOT of reverb pedals in my search for the right one. ghost echo was it. i tried the trinity, hall of fame, hardwire, cathedral, holy grail and a few others. this was definitely the best for me. i use it as a set and forget kind of thing. it's always on. it sounds so good and does so good with dirt. like way better with dirt than others that i tried.

When I had mine I had it set like that too. Always on and with the attack set high enough that it sounded like it was barely there with my dirt pedals but when i switched to clean it fattened everything up. I miss it, but I couldn't pass up an offer on a set of pickups and pedals for it. One day I'd like another one.
