Update on my sister/thank you ILF

I just wanted to say thank you so very, very much to the many of you that donated money to my sister. It has truly touched my heart as well as hers. She was absolutely SHOCKED by the kindness of people she has never met.

My sister and I haven't talked in almost 6 months, but we are going to start again and it may be because of this and all of you. So you've done more for me than you'll ever know.

Her goal was not met, but that's not an issue! Every bit helped and was appreciated. She is going to be going to Seattle, WA to have treatment there. Apparently there's some kind of treatment center that specializes in Lyme Disease there. Her and her husband will have to live there for 6 months to a year. It must be a pretty intense treatment if it takes that long. A lot of healing has to happen.

Just in the past month, she has lost 30-40 lbs, started having seizures everyday, and has almost lost the will to live. I'm hoping and praying that these treatments save her. I don't know much about them, so I can't say. I wish I knew more.

Again, I just wanted to say thanks and that I love you guys!

Here's the link in case anyone wants to donate.

Again, no obligations at all. If you're not comfortable with it, then don't do it.

There's actually still a month left for donations for her, but the goal is now higher (not on the site) because of the type of treatment she's having. It's actually, potentially going to cost in the neighborhood of a hundred thousand dollars. So the goal was never going to be met no matter what.

Luckily my dad has some money and is going to be able to step up and help out with this. They haven't talked in 4 years now for unrelated reasons. It's...really sad. He's going to help house her in Seattle and pay for her medical expenses. As long as she lives, then fuck everything else.

I will for sure hit some of you guys up!

I'll more than likely make a trip out there to see her.

As far as the donating site, I'll PM people with that info, I don't want anyone to feel obligated to donate though. Thanks for all the well wishes and prayers!

Nobody ever gets over Lyme Disease.

Oh wait, I did. ;) (I was real young, like 4 or 5)

Hope for the best, dude!

Ok. I just visited with my sister for the first time in almost 7 months. I went over to her house and talked with her for 3 hours. It was very hard and sad to see her in the state she is in. She's down to about 100 lbs and is around 5 foot 7. She's...wasting away. Apparently the Lyme is the start of what's wrong with her. They believe she has several different forms of parasites as well as possibly MS and other neurological conditions. She eats, but cannot gain weight. Any nutrition she takes in is destroyed by whatever is going on with her body. To make things worse, her husband has started having similar symptoms. It's horrible. She was in pretty good spirits and stayed that way throughout me being there. I was shocked by her appearance but given hope by her determination to get well. She's honest about things though and doesn't know if she will make it. She believes she may go to Seattle and die if the treatments are too much for her body to handle. I hope that's not the case. I'm praying it's not.

So a few things I didn't know. She was bit by over 200 ticks after taking a walk through the woods in a place we all used to go as kids. Her husband spent hours removing pin head sized dear ticks from her legs. Doctors have told her there is literally nothing wrong with her and yet she's wasting away everyday, losing more weight, having seizures (she had several while I was there), and all sorts of other fucked up shit. Private insurance companies have denied her and in fact have tried to instead press her to get life insurance.

She is leaving her house, cars, and all her worldly possessions to seek out the help of a doctor who does radical and controversial treatments for Lyme disease.

So I'm glad I got to see her today because she's leaving a week after I donate marrow.

Oh and I've decided I'll put the link in the OP.

I didn't want to because some were questioning me spending money on gear while asking for money from others (not naming names, not wanting to start anything, I'm just explaining). I understand the apprehensiveness. I truly do. It looks bad on my part. I love my sister more than I love gear obviously. I gave her almost 8 grand today in cash today to help her buy an RV so her and her husband have a place to stay. I thought she was getting an apartment but apparently not. They are going to live in an RV for a year or however long this takes.

So I just wanted people to know, I am giving money to my sister, whom I love.

 It's horrible to watch these things happen, I really hope that her treatment works. Best wishes to you, her and your family.
