Yeah, I've seen them on craigslist for a while now. Price is a little on the high side for me. Wasn't aware they were Will's but that makes sense haha.

Yeah he just grabbed a pair of matching 6x12s from Atlas, so he had a total of 4 6x12s, and 2 4x12s hahahaha, guess he finally realized that was a bit excessive.

Just looked up the posting...goddamn I would love to own that Monolith...was thinking about asking him to make the same thing for me, just like the Sunn 12L but 6 instead of 4.

Excessive is good. Sounds like the guys from Serialhawk would get along with me and John, hehe

Yeah i saw those and balked at the price for unloaded used cabs. I have the spare speakers to load one but that just gets into crazy expensive territory of you figure in what the speakers cost

This guy has been posting them for a couple of months. My friend emailed him last month about the Ampeg, and asked if he was flexible on the price. The answer was no. I want that Ampeg so bad too, but I'm just can't afford to load it, even if the price went down.

Hmmm, I will inform him that the prices may be impeding his sale and see what happens!

Will's my boy and I wish him success at not being flexible on the price but when it comes to 6x12 cabinets I just have one question. Why? Visual statement? Muscular hypertrophy? If there's a good reason I can't seem to hear it.

My 6x12 is noticeably louder, then my 4x12 (both from the same manufacturer) through the same amp with the same settings. The only difference is the 6x12 has weber celestion 65 clones and the 4x12 has WGS clones of the same speaker, and the 6x12 is 8 ohms while the 4x12 is 4.

From what I hear, the bigger box makes them have a bit more bottom end, however the only 6x12 ive ever heard live was the Sunn one with both sides angled in, and it sounded wayyyyy better than any 6x10 or 4x12 used for bass I have ever heard.
I would really like one for a dual amp setup so I can run a full stack on my main head, then a 3/4 stack with 1 cab on my clean/fx amp. In my case the want for a 6x12 is height. 4x12s don't get the top speakers close enough to my ears and its a bit cheaper to have a 6x12 made than 2 4x12s.
I see what you mean though, amp are gonna power speakers regardless of the enclosure size and those smallish differences really don't sound any different at high volumes.

I use oversized bass cabs for guitar and they definately have a huge affect on the sound. The GK 412h makes a dramitic differeance to the low end. the sunn 412h is more straightforwanrd and I may end up moving that one once the Murro cab is done and in my hands. I think the added volume does make a differance. People listening to my rig at a show might not percieve it but I can and thats the most important thing to me. If I'm happy with the sound I will play better. Thats my theory anyways

Can't argue with that, that's always my response when someone decides to talk shop with me....then when I get in depth and they say "it doesn't really matter man just play" Im like "O RLY?!"....haha I do just play...I just happen to know whats happening to my tone and ways to fine tune it...

It's definitely a free country and as long as I don't have to carry these boat anchors then I'll not spend much thought on what gear other folks use. And I definitely understand wanting gear that you get stoked on and riding that stoke to better music that sounds better.
I get the
potential for volume but it's certainly not automatically included. I mean I was at the Serial Hawk and Weedeater show the other night. Will had a V4 on top of one 6x12 and Scheidt's old plexi clone on top of the other. Sheppard's Marshall stack was louder. So from my perspective, why bother?
And I've run this line into the ground so I won't spend much time on it but I'm pretty much against having cabs built. How many trees must be felled so I can turn up the same 12" speakers that everybody else does. I say (I know broken record) that if you want a dog, go to the pound. If you want a cab go to the craig's list.
I hope you won't think I'm trying to force dogma. I'm not! My thoughts are for me but I like to share
