My bandmate and I we're scheduled to be guests at an SVA class today, and last night our other bandmate (who is away for the summer being a camp counselor) sent us a craigslist link to someone selling the golden age pre for $200... I emailed him and lo and behold, he was located on the same street and cross ave as the building we were going to. Got into the city early this morning and picked it up before going to the class. This was going to be a buy for me in the future... so I'm stoked on this deal.

Will do! My bandmate has a Vintech Dual 72 that we use for recording and is currently living in my studio, so whenever I get around to it, I'm going to AB the two. Will be interesting to see how the GAP stands up against $800 per channel of neve clone!

Been eyeing on this thing for quite a while, yeah keep us in the know!

here's a song that I recorded pretty much exclusively with the golden age and a KSM44a. it's a damn good preamp.. i like it.

i have yet to do an a/b with the vintech because i actually had to send it in for repair, but i can tell you that the GAP is much warmer. the vintech is just a great, clear sounding preamp that i will always choose for acoustic guitars and bass over the gap. but for some flavor, the gap is really nice.

I've been gassing for one (or two) of these for so long. We really need an upgrade on pre's for next recordings. Really nice sound on that song!
