screw it, will give this a shot.

anybody wants to join in say the word. gotta be an ableton live 8 user so we can toss session files back and forth via dropbox (which is super easy & free to use if you haven't yet).

name what you play & toss some stuff you're into.



i play guitar/bass, drums, keys, sequencer synths & drum machines & samplers, melodica, harmonica but am an amateur. also (sort of, someday) learning trumpet & violin. & ukelele. who knows what else... i can sing too but am burned out on lyricism.

example of the variety of stuff i'm into - autolux / failure, kinski, tristeza, mastodon, daft punk, portishead, hum, radiohead, stuff like that... grew up a grunge rock kid but am all over the map now. very picky about metal & hip hop. respect but am not into folk. had an industrial phase, still think early NIN is awesome. hate modern country. love electronic stuff but hate modern dubstep.

so... yeah. see what happens...

urm. i love quirky slower glitched stuff or angry noises or really anything with passion in it?

I play guitar and a bit of keys/synth but can also make samples/field recordings and program sounds from scratch using Max/MSP
Style-wise I'm really into 90s/00s post-rock/post-hardcore like Tortoise, Slint, Bastro, Fugazi.. and electronic stuff like Boards of Canada, Crystal Castles, James Blake... also jazz, minimalism, psychedelic, ambient, classical etc.

There are a lot of buggy ones. I've been using this for about a year though and it's fine (except I can't seem to get Max for Live working)

re: ableton - i used pro tools from 1998 to 2009, switched to ableton wanting more inputs without spending a stupid fortune, to each their own and all but IMO ableton slaughters.

I have live 8 and love it. I can't really compare it to anything other than reaper though.
