Any of you guys from Asheville?

My restlessness has caught up to me once more and I'm thinking about uprooting myself and moving down to Asheville. It looks like a rad place with a lot going on and a pretty substantial music community.
Thoughts from any locals/past-locals?

I'm not from Asheville, but a few years ago I thought about moving there.
What you wanna know?
(You could always just ask Blackout Kyle about it too.)

Let's start a migration!
I guess my main concerns are how hard it is to find a job...I have a few lofty aspirations/dream jobs there that I feel I'm totally qualified for, but at the same time, jobs are just insanely hard to find.
Also just curious about what folks who live there had to say about their town.

What kept the thought of moving there from actually happening, if you don't mind me asking. Anything in particular sway your decision?

But it's got to be Vegan...This is Asheville, after all.
First item on the menu: Godspeed You! Blackbean Burger

Asheville is pretty small compared to cities of the Northeastern megalopolis.
I liked it a lot, but just not enough to wanna move there. There is a lot of cool stuff going on there, I'm just used to bigger cities. I guess.
Asheville also relies pretty heavily on tourism. In larger cities it wouldn't've been so noticeable, but because Asheville's so much smaller, it stood out to me.
I think jobs are also kinda hard to find there. Many jobs are related to the tourist industry. While I have nothing against tourists, I also don't have a great love for them.
The people I met who live there were really nice.
I spent some time in West Asheville, which is just across the river and seemed to be where all the cool kids hang out. I kinda felt that if I lived in West Asheville, I'd need a car. Something I wasn't really willing to acquire. The roads really didn't seem well suited for cycling or walking and the public transit system is definitely small potatoes.
So, while it was a cute city, it wasn't ultimately for me.

It would be so amazing to live in a place where you didn't need a car.
Like...what.

Thanks for your input, chankz.
I grew up in small town VA, moved to NYC for a while, then up to Providence, and after a couple years here I just got sick of it.
The Tourist industry does seem to rule Asheville...That and medical companies...Both things I'm not willing to jump into, however, the music jobs down there, although they seem pretty impossible to break into, would be absolutely incredible to get in, so I'm holding out hope for now.

You're welcome. That was just my experience with Asheville. You might view it differently.
What're you sick of about Providence?
