Hey guys, I have to move in July... tired of this appartment... too small and too noisy.

I really wish I can purchase a house... but I can't.
So condo or another appartment? What you guys think.

It sort of depends of your short/long term plans.

Mortgages are often just as cheap, if not cheaper, than paying rent.

If you're thinking of living in the same city for a while, it might make sense to buy a condo.

It would be as expensive per month as buying one (except dont have to put a cash down).

Too expensive for me... no GF to help me here.

Srsly? I've seen houses rent for the same price as apartments, less sometimes, in most states I've lived in even here in Hawaii. In my experience, condos are pretty pricey.

How about a trailer?(that isn't in a trailer park.)

I put down a sizable downpayment but my mortgage is cheaper then any place I've rented from.

If you get an apartment will you have a roommate? If not then you're probably spending a pretty significant amount of money. I don't know your area at all but... ya, ya know.

Apartment = Freedom...

Condo = The Ball And Chain of Ownership...

I have no Canadian knowledge of Reality but I'd say move to a hipper or less hip part of QC for 6 months and see how you feel... Move to the US for better Fuzz Deals... :idk:

Truth. Still, even with the fees i'm paying less than the average rent for a place like mine. plus buying a small place is an investment to someday help me get a house.

Get a tenement (multi-family), live in one apartment and let the other tenants rents cover the mortgage for you. I'm not sure of the market where you live, but in the USA there are lots of deals especially for a first time home buyer.

No roommate. I'm 38 and want to have my own thing.
Quebec City is expensive.

i have no personal experience, but from what i've gathered, condos can be hard to sell.

this, and then when you decide to move in 3-5 years, sale price for 1st house becomes your down payment for 2nd home, and your mortgage is then basically nothing, or same as before but bigger nicer home.

As soon as I found a condo interesting... then I look at the price... it's always more than 200k.
Tired of searching.
