It really bugs me when comedians play instruments.

I've no idea when/where that photo is from, but I think he's pretty funny.

I don't mind it, if you are funny and can play a little I think it is OK
To me getting mad about it is like Picasso getting mad at Gary Larson
I don't know what show this is from, anything I have seen demetri martin play an instrument it has been an acoustic

i like it to an extent. Flight of the con-chords is really funny and im pretty sure all they do is play instruments and make music.
i do really like demetri martin, i like when he plays, it adds to the background and gives a little something to the silence between jokes, or leaves him room for a build up before the punchline. He could just stand there in silence, he chooses to do something instead

I haven't seen him play an old gretch before. I'd like to see what he can do on it.
I think he's an alright comedian, his show was pretty good but I don't think it even lasted a full season. :\

"The Important Things With Demetri Martin"
Season 2, Episode 2; "Power"
I know that he plays a song with that same guitar, 'Me vs You'

I wouldn't be surprised if he played music before being a comedian. I remember watching an interview in which he talked about becoming a comedian... I don't know. He has always used music in his acts as opposed to comedians that 'just happen' to pick up guitar.
His "If I" performance is one of the best of his. Takes his act beyond comedy, it was just fun to listen to him talk.

I like Demitri, from what I have seen/heard , not to spam, but on all my youtube videos people always say I look like him (when I had longer hair). Literally every video.

I like him and miss his Comedy Central show for sure! I even bought an overpriced ticket to see him perform in St. Louis in the very near future after seeing him already a few years back.
I know people love to hate on comedians that do anything beyond stand there and tell jokes but acts like Tenacious D and Flight Of The Conchords (who indeed started with music based standup) have always made me laugh. Demetri catches extra shit for drawing and using visual aides along with music tho, considered by many purists as nothing more than a hipster Carrot Top or modern day Gallagher. I get it. I just don't give a shit.

thanks man! my buddy has a tk 300, I really wanted to show him the full video
also just to add into the discussion I find demetri to be a less funny version of mitch hedburg, the best comedian ever, but since he's gone demetri can at least somewhat fill the void

strangely enough I enjoyed his first special but I hated the musical comedy more than his terrible TV show

I agree on the Mitch Hedberg lite comparison. At least Mitch had the good sense to bring an upright bass player with him and not play an acoustic. Whenever I see a comedian come onstage with a guitar I turn to my wife and say "Uh-oh, this is going to suck". The best you can hope for from a comedian w/an instrument is "amusing". The only exception I can think of is Steve Martin because a) He didn't sing trite little comedy songs, he just told jokes between playing and b) the banjo is fucking hi-larious.

Can we just make this a Mitch Hedberg Appreciation Thread now?
