Original or not, I don't care.

I love John Carpenter's stuff:

Morricone with The Thing and the Dollars Trilogy.

The Harder They Come.

Easy Rider.

Dig! (although that's slightly cheating...)

Woodstock (...but this is definitely cheating.)

Also with Danger: Diabolik and...well just about everything Morricone does is magic. The Exorcist II: The Heretic has one of the best scores I've ever heard IMO, but the movie is un-fucking-watchable :thumb:

Some of my all-time favorites:
The Taking of Pelham One Two Three - David Shire (This one may qualify as my all-time favorite score, but it's REALLY hard to chose just one)
Vertigo, Psycho, The Day The Earth Stood Still, North by Northwest - Bernard Herrmann
Godzilla - Akira Ifukube
Goldfinger, The Ipcress File, Thunderball - John Barry
Yojimbo - Masaru Sato

Knew you'd have some excellent suggestions for this thread.

That's one of my faves too.

YES! I found this on vinyl and was far more excited than I should have been.

My favorite:

I also REALLY like the soundtrack from the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre

This. So, so hard. I love it both in the context of the movie and on it's own.

The Untouchables
Akira
The Good the Bad and the Ugly
Taxi Driver
Requiem for a Dream

And since this is about soundtracks and not just film scores:
O brother where art thou?
Any Quentin Tarantino flick has always had a neat and completely varied soundtrack with it
Goodfellas
Snatch
Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels
Master and Commander

The Akira score is mindblowing- tied with Ghost in the Shell for favorite anime/score for animated film.

OK, I'll throw out some more:

Yojimbo
Biutiful
The Thin Blue Line
Latcho Drom
Genghis Blues

The soundtracks to Jim Jarmusch films are usually pretty great. I especially like:

Night on Earth
Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai
Broken Flowers
The Limits of Control
