I guess it's considered cool nowadays to say no, but FUCK YES. It scares the ever-loving shit out of me. I can't imagine non-existence and it is the scariest fucking thing I can think of.

well, i fear methods of death for certain. given my lousy respiratory system, there's a good chance i'll expire from pneumonia by drowning in my own fluids, and if i avoid that the next most popular method of dying in my family is to waste away in a nursing home after a debilitating stroke.
i'm also afraid because i don't know what if anything comes after. given that i'm nominally Christian i try to assume that if i do the best i can here things will sort themselves out later, but i don't know. one reason i'm still alive is that the Catholics could be right about suicides going straight to Hell. i stopped feeling like i could be certain of any of my long-held notions about death and afterlife some time ago...now i just hope i'll be forgiven.
i'm also older than most of the folks here, and at 56 death seems less like a far-off appointment than a bus that's running on schedule towards the end of the line. it's scary to think that even with the miracles of modern medicine i've probably lived two-thirds of my life already. i'm going to run out of time before i ever make my record or find someone who loves me enough to stay. i've only got a couple of kitty lifetimes left...if i get a kitten when i find work i'd better adopt a middle-aged cat when she dies or i'll be dead before the second cat.

Yeah, I know. And maybe one day I'll figure out how to come around to his level of awesome and level-headed thinking. But I'm not there yet. I get that it's just a ride. But it's the only ride there is. And mine is probably at best half over already. And I still can't make myself get over that.
Plus, that line is from a speech where he's talking about how to make the world a better place, not necessarily about accepting death.

I kinda think that when we die our souls/minds detach from our bodies and we just dream. then again, I have no idea what to think about anything.
