So as i am quite bored at home i was flicking through some boxes and found a bunch of photos of me in my teenage years
which made me really laugh  looking at the ways i dressed as a teenager and how i slowly evolved

was there a social group you felt like you belonged to growing up as a teen?
i mean some kids were punks wore the hawk and dr martens some kids were scene emos some were skinheads
weve all done it i know it ;)

so what was yours?

i was like some weird mash of skinhead and mod
i always said i was a mod when i was a kid

good memories...

lol. i went a private school with the same 11 kids in my class until junior high, so i was pretty socially retarded. dressed in striped shirts and tight pants probably the firet year of junior high. got in a few fights. decided to hang out with the tough white kids that didn't get messed with, the rocker kids. i already listened to Metallica, i just didn't talk about Primusnor Aphex Twin with them. redid my whole wardrobe over the summer before 8th grade. ALL BLACK. black pants, band shirts, black socks. BLACK UNDERWEAR.

didn't take into account that out of the 2,000 or so kids in that high school it was like 40% black, 40% hispanic, 10% asian, 5% white, 5% other. and like half the kids were gang bangers. everybody listened to rap. and all the tough rocker/stoner kids graduated out when i was turning into an 8th grader. so i went from like 4 fights the first year to about 40 the next. i'm SMART.

in high school dressed like a young black hip hop kid or a young white kid trying to BE a young black hip hop kid for a year or two, then got a littls more raver kid.

WOO identity confusion.

Jocks were the fuckheads of the school.
Metalheads were a'aight but I could only take so much of them.
Burnouts were just fucking boring and lazy.
Goth crowd sucked.

I finally found my calling at 16 as one of the elite jizz moppers in the east village.

It was a mix of band geeks and burnouts, and both contributed to the third pool, really obnoxious burnout-geek girls.
I don't miss high school at all. Man I was such a shithead.

Conersations like these unsettle me because I remember very little of high school, and what I remember is bad. I didn't belong to any groups really. I dressed as a hippy every day and I was the only one doing it; bell bottoms, peace signs, anti-war buttons, I think I must've based my wardrobe on watching old footage of The Band or something.

In middle school I was part of the Goths and Magic The Gathering Kids. Then in high school I was part of the hardcore straight edge kids and art kids. In college I just hung out with dudes on my dorm floor and bands from Richmond

I was a pleasant mix of Gabber and hooligan.

I just remember lots of basement shows with really bad screamo bands in middle/high school.

So yeah, I hung out with those kids.

Uhhh....
The stoners and the hippies were really the only people I was friends with in high school.
But I went to an art school, so I don't know. I'm not sure what high school normally is.

hippie. it really was the only option in 1970 if you weren't normal.

i floated by outside of social groups. i got along with people just well enough to lead a mostly inconsequential and largely forgettable existence throughout my youth.

Social Distortion is probably the best one I can think of.
