Hi friends. I'm posting this here. Sorry. I've never had this problem with a video game and don't post on any other forums... and I know some of you are playing this game.

Some possible SPOILERS ahead if you have not found the whereabouts of your friend Oliver.

*START SPOILERS*

Have any of you gotten to or past the "Saving Oliver" mission in Far Cry 3? I've tried it probably 30 times, and I can't get Oliver to do anything. Like I drive up to the site, and identify him, then I guess you're supposed to snipe all the pirates to keep Oliver safe. Well I go through and kill everything and everyone (besides Oliver) and he just stands around. A few times he's started to walk down the ramp, but then he just stands there.

Let me know if I'm doing something wrong... this is kind of a game-ending glitch here.

Yeah that's not supposed to happen
For glitchy missions like that in other games, you usually just have to keep doing it until it works, should only be a few times...dunno.

The first time I tried it, he ran down the ramp and got behind some boxes. Then he got shot by a whole bunch of dudes. Everytime I've tried it after that, he won't move. He just stands there shucking and jiving.

I kept trying it from the Autosave at that point in the game, and that didn't work. So I went back to the last manual save just a bit before that mission starts and the same thing is happening. BUH.

Haven't tried it yet today (I was actually finishing up all the guitars on my record!), but I'll give it a go later.

Thanks!

I just watched a YT demo with the worst shooter ever and he got through it... Just kill all the dudes and Oliver will do something, keep looking around...

Hey boyos.

Ok, I went back to the mission from my manual save and just before I got to the sniping ridge the game froze and then started Auto-saving. Then it unfroze and I was able to continue. THIS time, Oliver started moving, then I was so excited/confused that he got shot in the face.

So the second time I started out the mission, I made sure to sell something at the shop so it would Auto-save, getting rid of the old one in case Oliver getting stuck was a symptom of the Auto-save during that mission.

So I get halfway through the mission and my controller goes dead. GEEEEZ! But at least Oliver is moving.

Then I play it again and he makes it all the way to the boat and I guess you're suppose to jump into it when he comes around near your perch. So I jump off and land on an outstretched rock and kill myself. GEEEEZ!

After a few more tries and some really bad shooting from the boat chase I was able to save him.

Thanks for the tips, dudes. I think it was some sort of glitch that happened with the Auto-save during the mission.

So I'm back on track. The "problem" now is that I have too much money and nothing to spend it on!

Ok! Back to gamin'.

p.s. I was disappointed that I didn't have any beers to celebrate the completed Oliver mission, but then I looked under some tortillas and found two double-IPAs! WOOOOOO! What a night! ;)

LOL! How do you like Far Cry 3? I played the second one and even though it was so repetitive, I had a lot of fun with it. The new one looks even cooler!!

Hello friend. I haven't played a lot of current-gen games (besides on the Wii), but I must say that Far Cry 3 is pretty great. It's really addictive, especially for a Completist like me.

I'm not a fan of the fact that you can save anywhere at any point... but that seems to be something you can do in all of the newer current-gen games. To me, nothing's cooler than having to hunt down a Save Point when you're just about dead, having to really up your skillz to make it. Metroid Prime comes to mind. So does GTA San Andreas.

But anyway... it's really fun, and although there are a lot of fetch quests, the main story is really exciting and challenging. I don't like any of the main characters, but you don't have to interact with them all that often.
