How are you going to pay respects to the brave men and women who served to protect our freedom?
I think this day deserves its own thread.
I'm going to a ceremony today to give my respects to these heroes.

Well, I went to my girlfriend's house because November 11th is her birthday. It was also Día Nacional de la Pupusa where she comes from.

Veterans were mourned by eating pupusa, curtido, and different salsas.

Your girl's Salvadoran?

I'm jealous.

I love pupusas. I used to work across the street from a Salvadoran restaurant. There's no Salvadoran food where I live now.

Hope she's having a happy birthday, remembering veterans.

I've never had any of their dishes until recently. They normally use cheese, zucchini, and pork (I think). Since I'm vegan, her mom used my cheese and made me special ones. Later in the evening her mom said she prays that I become my girlfriend's husband. I see a lot more Salvadoran food in the future.

Oh, yeah, I forgot about the cheese.

I'm a lacto vegetarian. So, I had no problems there. (Well, not "no problems". Meat is never too far away in Salvadoran cooking.)

Sounds like a nice family to marry into.

Huge thank you to all service men and women out there and of days past!!

Veteran's Day was originally designated to commemorate the soldiers who fought in WWI in which fighting ended at 11:11am on 11/11.

After WWII it was applied to all Veterans.
