I left my bottle of bourbon at a friend's house, and she isn't home
I guess scotch will have to tide me over

Well, yeah, I know that it doesn't sound all that imposing to the Katrina veterans, because it's barely a hurricane at this point. But the problem is that there's a clusterfuck of storm systems that are all converging. There's a winter high pressure system over Newfoundland that is going to block and basically just hold Sandy in place over the Northeast for a couple days. And then there's another winter storm coming in from Canada that is going to crash into Sandy and mix, and it's basically going to be like a mix between a hurricane and a Nor'easter, and it's just going to hover for a few days. It's going to really really suck.
But I'm not overly worried. Our house is up around 150 feet and a good 70-80 feet above any rivers, so we won't get any flooding. And we went out and tied down everything loose in our yard. The biggest pain in the ass to me will be if we lose power, and driving to work is also going to suck.
And I went out and bought a handle of vodka and a handle of Jim Beam, so we'll be ok.

30 foot waves, 12 feet of rain and 3 feet of snow and that was just what we were supposed to have this morning.
Tomorrow is worse!!!!!!
The news people are coming all over themselves and can’t wait for body counts.
New York city will look like this.
