The man's a genius. If you don't know who he is, watch this. He wrote and directed it.

Disagree with your assessment of his filmic abilities.

B+ for effort.
D- for execution.
:idk:

A genius would not have directed the David Blaine TV Specials...

I liked what he wrote for Kids... Gummo and Julien were cray for the time...

He did that Black Metal "Art Piece" The Sigil of the Cloven Hoof Marks Thy Path...

Which I cannot find online anywhere.

Honestly, I think the execution is exactly what he intends to do. I find his films to be visionary and fantastic. I'm excited for Spring Breakers, even though it seems like he's moved to a more normal storytelling format with it.

Yeah, the execution's what he intends, but I'm just not crazy about it.

He's an interesting filmmaker, but I think sonidero kinda nailed it.

I'm excited for Spring Breakers, but that's 'cause its full of women in bikinis. I saw Piranha 3D for the same reason.

As for Harmony, he's not even close to the same caliber as other contemporary directors who might be considered "offset"--Jarmusch, Lynch, Von Trier, Van Sant, etc... and he doesn't come close to matching the real masters of innovations in film (Fellini, Antonini, Dennis Hopper--for Easy Rider--). In the words of one of my one-time bosses "they're still letting Harmony Korine make movies? Who lets this happen?"

The best part of Gummo is that Sleep is in the soundtrack.

Couldn't have said it better, my thought exactly.

I've only seen Gummo and it was just ok to me. Though I am interested in seeing Kids at some point.

I think it's worth pointing out that Kids was directed by Larry Clark.

That's why it's better than most Harmony Korine product.

My bad, I was confusing it for the "black metal art piece" in which he plays the devil with Johnny Depp. THAT is the one I can't fucking find.
