Ah fuck it. New Atari Video Music Day! Hells yyyeeeeaaaaahhhhhhh. Bought one off eBay that was modded by Switched On in Austin, TX. Made them an offer, they took it, and I think I got it for a good price considering it's been modded to better suit modern equipment. Very fresh. Very clean.



Look at that sexy thing. And here's a picture of some of the visualization:



It has a RCA video out, two 1/4 inputs, a 1/8 input (for some iPod action), and there's a fuzz output. Pretty interesting sounding fuzz. Very gated and video game sounding. I'll have to record a clip of it. And a video of the visualization. I kind of wish it were circuit bent, but seeing as how there's one of those on eBay right now for $850, I can hold off.

Yeah after I sent him an offer I thought "Maybe I could have gotten it for less...maybe I shouldn't have even bought it..." But I've been wanting one forever and, yes, I intend to use it for solo shows whenever I get around to putting material together. I also want to pick up the Critter and Guitarri VideoScope and have more video synth options. I'll just have to figure out how to switch (or better yet, blend) between the two of them.

In the mean time, I might find a way to go RCA straight into my computer and maybe do some audiovisualizations of music I like. I think Battles would be awesome on this thing.

Oh is it? I figured they have more than one laying around to sell. If it makes you feel better my parents just moved to Dallas, so if/when I go to their house it won't be too far from Austin. I wonder if it can be modded so the visuals can be switched with a footswitch...
