Weekly freakin Rant

Singers bounded about the stage performing all kinds of shenanigans in strange and sometimes wondrous costumes.
Guitar plays show off amazing feats of skill or just endless self-indulgent wanking off.
We have come to expect this.
Bass players used to sand back, lock in with the drummer shake their heads at the goings on at the front of the stage and make great music.
Now days many want to be the STAR so have adopted the ways of singers and guitar players.
They have taken to aural masturbation with compulsive obsessive abandon.
Extended range bass capable of subsonic to Ultra sonic vibrations.
I know being able to lure night crawlers and reproduce the mating call of the fox bat are very useful skills, I just don’t want to watch Bass god of the day perform them.

It’s not Boo Hoo.
Someone had just sent me the 100 and tenth link to some “phenomenal” guy doing the bass equivalent of Free Bird.
Being a very talented musician and writing/performing great music are two different things.
I applaud their talent, but I would rather listen to a crappy band play their hearts out with feeling.
Maybe I’m just tired of the “look at me I play bass” thing
It would be cool to have a 152 string bass with a neck 2“wider than my living room though.
Or maybe just 1 string.
So there

I love you MM, but the idea of "standing back and locking in with the drummer" sounds so fucking boring to me.

Wank or not, Vooten is fucking amazing. There is no denying his talent.
I don't understand all this bass player hatred. It's not like this is a new thing. Some bands have a bassist as a front man. So fucking what? Type O Negative, Tool (come on don't kid yourself we all know it's true), Rush, Pink fuckin Floyd...the list could go on.
I think guitar players get butt hurt when a bassist shows them up and can play with more range than them. I say, fuck off and learn to play better if you're that offended. Fucking guitar playing WHORES!!!!
