Recommend Me a Platform Amp

Hey Gent's (and Devi)
I am looking for an amp to play my pedals through with great results.
Originally I wanted to go with the matamp route, however, I just don't ever see that coming into fruition with their high prices.
Sunn Model T is my dream amp, but I don't want to take a risk on a 70's amp.
I play metal and I use my elements as my main "dirt" sound and I also like to use a fuzz (pharaoh, but I thinking of switching to a supercollider) quite a bit.
Can any recommend me a platform amp with good headroom for about $1500?

You want a high powered, non-master volume amp.
My suggestion would be a Blackstar Artisan 100 or 30 (you can find them used for $1500 and less)
I would also suggest a vintage Fender (Showman, Bandmaster, Bassman, etc) as they have AMAZING clean channels and love pedals. There's no worry in a vintage amp if it's working correctly and doesn't have any issues.

Actually, here you go. This is a great price (a lot less than what I paid for mine)

Thanks for the rec's excane, those artisan heads have piqued my interest. I'll do some reading on them.

why not a 70's amp? most of those are super overbuilt compared to any new big iron amp you'd get today for $1500. Model T or an Ampeg V4...either would be perfect.

Mainly because I can't readily go out and find one to try and see if it is in working condition.

Properly maintained, a V4 will be at least as reliable and actually easier to fix than many modern amps.

They are not pristinely clean however, they get a lil grunty at mid-volume, but it's also supremely loud at that level too.

I've heard a lot of folks are using tube PA heads for this. Might be worth trying?
