where should I move, round two

Okay. I asked you dudes in the spring, but life happened and I'm stuck here in dumb ol' ft collins Colorado for a little while longer. But I want to plan FAR ahead of time, so I can prepare. Gotta get the fuck out of here.

What I'm looking for: not stupid expensive, fairly bike-friendly, supportive of metal/doom/noise and experimental without being totally flooded by it. Mainly, I would really like to live somewhere I can make my art and music and not have to work 60 hours a week or whatever just to pay the bills. And have some cool people to hang with. I need more time for art and music (like we all do, I'm sure). I'm somewhat obsessed with being by the ocean, or near to large bodies of water and treees. Ok, I'm sure I could go on with my list of picky requirements, so I'll stop while I'm ahead. Thanks guys.

Try Richmond. It's got the river, a huge music scene, and an equally as large art scene. I loved it there

I twas going to say this but no large water (although tons of lakes!) and I'm not sure about doom/noise (I wasn't really into either back when I lived there.

Sounds like you wanna move to Portland, OR. Kinda. Sorta.

(OK, well, maybe the Portland of 10 years ago?)

Yeah, I lived in the Northwest for a short while, and liked a lot of things about it. The main thing I'm not so sure about is that it's significantly more expensive than here. Also, everyone, and I mean EVERYONE is moving to Portland. Seems like it would be super-rough to get a job in that kind of environment. :idk:

Yeah, that's why I said the Portland of ten years ago. It is getting much more expensive and hard to find work.

So, you want the next Portland. Portland, ME.

Never lived in Richmond myself, but it is fairly cheap, has a great music scene, and is pretty bikeable.

I actually love Portland, ME.

If I hadn't been shying away from NE winters recently, I'd consider moving there.

Fuck the USA.

Seriously. Move there and I'll live vicariously through you.

Ahh...to be able to chose where one lives...sigh...that is a dream.
