I'm home, sick for the first time in almost 8 years

Yesterday I woke up with a stuffy nose like usual, but then a sore throat followed. Made it through the day yesterday just thinking it was allergies.
Woke up this morning with my throat almost swollen shut and blew my nose for a solid 15 minutes.

I work at the Red Cross calling people to remind them of their blood donations. Absolutely no way I could make it through the day with my throat in its current state. I had to call out.

I hadn't missed a day of anything since I was in middle school. FEELS WEIRD TO BE OFF WHEN I SHOULD BE AT WORK.

/SICK RAMBLINGS

When was the last time YOU were sick from work??

I thought this was about homesickness.

I get sick all the time.

I've only used 1/2 of a sick day since I started my job a year and a half ago. I seem to only get sick on weekends, which has happened a couple times in that period.

I didn't take a single sick day for actual sickness for 7 years until my son was born. In the 18 months since then, I've had to take the day off cause I was sick SIX fucking times. Kids are little goddamn germ sponges.

Yesterday I went home early because I wasn't feeling well, and there was nothing for me to do since the laser is broken now. :/

I've been at home for... what? five weeks (?), mainly lying on a matress on the living room floor, in neuropathic pain and have fucked up the left hand numb. Can't much feel my fingertips. Or move my neck. Bad case of neck disk prolapse.

Meeting tomorrow the neurosurgeon and hoping for a quick-ish recovery - which, I'm told, could mean anythign from six to sixteen months. Eager to get back to playing the bass guitar but without properly working fingers It's hard.
