Honestly, I think just the crows in solid black ink would look best.

I dig the idea. Maybe add some detail to the negative space to give it more depth.
Also curious as to where you're thinking of getting it.

side of my arm, somewhat low, but high enough that a sleeve down to my elbow would cover it almost completely. which is kind of why I want it framed.

I thought about just getting the crows in black, but negative tats have always appealed to me like

I don't really like straight up negative images.

well I guess it wouldn't be all negative space, think of it more as inverted, there would still be detailing.

I like the negative space idea as far as the crow thing (although that sort of imagery just isn't my thing), but I'm with Delta, that example is one shitty tattoo. I thought it was a really dilapidated version of The Incredibles logo.
