Minor rant (booking shows)

Should probably go in the spite hate blah blah, but I'm more important than all of you sooooo....

I wanna book a show, I have no fucking idea what is going on with my band in the future so I'm like hey, cool, let's do some acoustic shows. So I contact this guy, and he does all of his booking through facebook chat messages and comments. Dumbest thing ever, but that's a completely different story. So I'm talking to him, and he asks what kind of stuff I'd be doing, so I tell him acoustic, and he goes "lol, what?" So, he gets back to me and all he says? "k"

Cool bro, now what the fuck does that tell me? Is that a yes? Does that just mean that you understand what I wrote?

TL;DR: If you wanna book people for shows, don't respond with a "k" because you look like a cock sucker

I think that means this guy thinks that 99% of acoustic music these days is recycled trash devoid of creativity, and therefore this guy is quite skeptical that you aren't just some annoying d-bag who wants to do do Plain White T's and Jack Johnson covers.

Frankly I don't blame him. I know you're better than that, but saying you want to play strictly acoustic music isn't putting your best food forward IMO.

But I'm a total music nazi so... :duck:

i've played shows for this guy before. he has heard my music and we have adapted some of my acoustic songs to our full band show, and I thought they were fairly well received.

k nvm, I didn't have the whole story. :duck: just thought I'd squeeze a rant into your rant.

Yeah, just act like he gave you the green light then and come back with a bunch of plans and whatnot.

I seriously just need to start booking shows in the city. The suburbs is filled with nu-metal bands, so that's what most promoters will cater to

As a noise musician trapped in the NJ suburbs, I know that feeling. Where you at?

Ah. It's a shame it's the same in so many places :( .

I find that the city tends to harbor creativity a little bit more. Really try to invade it.

Is this a paying show with a run sheet or more of a open-mic night acoustic affair?

Because I understand (though don't agree with) the dude's attitude if it's the latter. However if it's the former then that's all a bit wtf.

Paying gig. I have played probably about 5 shows for this guy with my band, and I would say 3/5 shows we had the most draw at the show, with the others being in about the middle.

Double both your fee and rider, that'll get his attention!

"Say 'k' to that, asshole!"

He'll just drop people. He really doesn't care, for him it's a quick buck whether I draw people, or some girl who just got an acoustic guitar brings all her friends out. He doesn't think in the long term. makes me sad, man
