I am from the U.S so there is something exotic about the British subcultures of the past. I've especially been into the Mod subculture lately.

Talk about mods. Stay away if you are a Rocker.
Ska, Scooters, Soul, Parkas, Absolute Beginners, etc.
Mod revival: The Jam, Quadrophenia, etc
I make no claim to be any kind of expert.

I've never been able to comprehend why people use this word. It seems so absurd to me. Around here we just call it a winter coat or maybe just a coat, and we know ALL about coats.
But yeah on topic, mods is cools. Had I been alive in that place and time, I'd most likely be into that sort of thing. It translates well to my contemporary hipsterism. I always get confused as to what makes a mod and rocker different. I mean The Who were a mod band right? That's what seems "rock" to me, but I recognize I'm looking at it from a totally different perspective. So were rockers wearing leather jackets and listening to Chuck Berry or something? What would be similar British bands that "rockers" would be listening to? I guess I mostly understand what Mods were, but I'm not sure what they were in contrast to.

I think the real question here is: who isn't fascinated by the Mod subculture?
I mean, Pauly Shore was a Mod before you was a Mod.
