where the musicians at?

so..... been actively looking for a keyboardist (preferrably) or guitarist through Craigslist and BandMix the last few months. getting pretty discouraged. we put links to some stuff we're working on and have either had silence or response from people that.... that really don't fit. like an older gent that plays classical guitar singing in Spanish at weddings. or a couple that were 50 and did VERY Joni Mitchel inspired stuff in their house.

where's a good place to look? i don't really know any musicians that i super love how they play in the local scene, and i'm a shy introverted shut-in, so GIMME ATTENTION bombings at local shows aren't a very viable option. damn it.

i'd import Sylnau and some of you other lovely fuzzy monkeys but i'm afraid of the customs fees.
what'm'i doing wrong?

WHERE THE DOPE MUSICIANS THAT WANT TO DO WEIRD KINDA NOISEY SHIT AT.

I.Like.Aqua - don't tempt me. my grrLs not into Multiple Partner Play, but another layday and some eels (she IS Japanese)...... who knowwwwwwwwwwws.

SonicDeusEx'Io - fer shizzie. that's what i thought, but a lot of the bands i've gigged with over the last few years where kinda..... not what i'm into. great peoples and all, but kinda boring music. i'm not awesome or anything, but would love to do some different stuff. and i AM doing it wrong. but i dunno where else to look but CL and BandMix. murrrrrr?

Other than meeting people through shows etc., you could always look for a local musicians group on Facebook. At least in my area a lot of people look to jam or start a band through there. Also a lot of gear posted and venues looking for bands.

Ive been having the same problems. I usually go to shows, and talk.

Im super shy and awkward, but, that's usually easy to break by offering to buy someone a beer or something.

7JeffsAreBetterThan6 - hurm. that's interesting. didna even think to check if there were any local FB group thingers. good idea. thanks!

AdrennaLEEN - yah. i don't go out to a lot of shows, and when i do it's usually either when i'm playing (used to be) or friends. and it always seems like anybody i like the way they play, they're super into the band they're in.

and i'm MAD shy too. i fake some outgoing bullshit, but it's always hard to talk to new peoes without rambling about mah genitals.

Go old school and put a flyer up with phone numbers at the bottom that you tear off. Put it at the little music stores that sell good effects.

Yeah, I'm not much help. LR formed by me and the singer being in grad school classes together and I knew the drummer from when I was an undergrad.....so go back to school? :idk:

Or dammit Behndy. Do what you do best. Go to a kid pageant, find a cool asian girl doing some keys for her thang, and stalk the fuck out of her. Jam some Pete Gabe outside her window and stuff. Do what yhou do.

But try to find one that sings and you can dub Kitty Irwin and name yourselves Behndy, Irwin, and the Sting Rays.

ew. Hayward. HAYWARD? why the fuck HAYWARD?!? that's like..... the mole next to the butthole of NoCal. Sac would be the steamy butthole, and Hayward's the weird worm hole mole. EW.

i guessssssss i could do a flyer'y thingy. i need to actually go in and tell the doods that i like a lot at the awesome pedal store i'm looking for a person. also a good idea.

........ gah. my luck i'd end up with 3 fuckers from TGP doing doctorate work comparing the value, not the sounds, of their gear.

GAH.
