Strange Envelope Filters

Soon-ish, I'll be looking to purchase some sort of filter. Originally, I planned on getting an EHX Microsynth. But there's soooo much shit out there that I'm starting to reconsider. Currently looking at the IE Xerograph (possibly the DLX), the Subdecay Prometheus, and the EHX Q tron+, which isn't that crazy but the fx loop seems like it'd be nice. What else is out there( I don't wanna pay new-ZVex prices)? And do any of you have any experience with the ones I've listed above? School me

I'm planning on getting myself an IE Xerograph Deluxe. I'd advise you do likewise.
I guess it sorta depends on what you want it to do though.

I've got the Micro Q Tron. It's pretty versitile for being so small. I'm about to build a Lovetone Meatball though!

I want it to really be able to handle a fuzz in front, do conventional filter stuff as well as something really fucking out there. And for the record, I'll be using with guitar and not bass. That's probably important to mention. I know that the Xerograph kind of gets this feedback-y, quasi-oscillation thing goin'. And that kind of makes it a frontrunner ATM.

The rattle crow is pretty shitty actually, it mostly does farts and squelches.
The cyber psychic filter is much cooler
The Prometheus Deluxe is one of the craziest filters out there right now.
The original Prometheus has been one of my favorite filter effects for a few years now...dunno why I don't have the deluxe yet. Need to fix that.

Dude, the RANGE of sounds and frequencies of the Xero DLX are unparralled in my experiences! It can go far deeper than anything and so high it'll blow your fucking windows out! Plus the oscillation thing, and the feedback thing, etc etc...
Plus a clean blend, separate volume for effect and clean. Expression pedal option...Geez!!!!

I just obtained a couple filters on the cheap, and I'm not satisfied yet. The Bukowski is really cool with the reverse sweep on, but I wouldn't say it is very versatile. I also recently picked up a Robotalk 2 on a whim with some GC gift cards. Does traditional shit really well. I know what I want and it is Xerograph AND Prometheus.

I play mostly guitar as well. I think the Xerograph Deluxe would be well suited for everything you want it to do. Seems very versatile.
I've got a Cyber Psychic. I can attest to its versatility and awesomeness. I've mostly been using it with an expression pedal for wide filter sweeps. It can probably do what you're looking for. It can make lots of feedback and it's got way more than just a little quasi-oscillation going. Like massive amounts of oscillation? Yes, massive. It gets fuzzy all on its own too. Pretty weird fuzz sounds come outta that thing. Sounds good with other fuzzes stacked into it. Only drawback is they're kinda expensive right now and it doesn't do auto-wah.

i suck at guitar so i don't try that shits. but with bass the Xero is insanely versatile, and it all just sounds GOOD. i just picked up a BEF Pro and it's pretty neat.
i liked the IDEA of the Prometheus DLX, it does some neat ass stuff..... but the filter itself sounded.... not...... good. so all the tricks it did didn't really help much.
again, that's on bass 'do.
i'm fucking WET about the Robot Factory Brain Freeze that's on it's way to me. i would have stuck my junk inside my old MS20r if it was just a TINY bit more vaginal. LOVED. THAT. THING.
