The new VHT Amps seem pretty cool.

Tube amps (with 6V6!), cheap, extension out, point to point wiring by China's best labor

I'm all in.

Special 6 - pretty cool, even gigable (full volume, but still... mic'd up and you're sounding awesome
it sounds great with a fuzz face

Special 6 Ultra - a ton of shenanigans, some of it really REALLY redundant

Special 12/20 - a fucking gorgeous amp i'd say. Liked it the most probably

Yeah, I just picked up a Special 6 for messing around with at home.

I'd probably prefer the 12/20 or the Ultra, but I got it in a trade.

Nice sounding amp, if a little dark at times--I leave the tone knob cranked pretty high.

I love the simplicity. I'd also love to mod it, but I know almost nothing about that--probably time to do research soon.

um...

that 12"cab is like the only benefit i see in the Ultra compared to Special 6 (btw yes, it's kinda dark)

12/20 is a totally different beast. It sounds really... MATURE

VHT/Fryette makes some pretty killer stuff. The old 2/90/2 power amps, a demeter TGP and a 4x12 used to be my dream rig.

Just got the Special 6 6W 1x10 Hand-Wired Tube Guitar Combo Amp. I like that I'll have a portable tube amp, and I can pump it out to my 2x12 or 1x15 cab. :omg:

The best thing you can do i think :) i really doubt that Special 6 Ultra is worth the extra bucks

Fryette has nothing to do with VHT anymore as far as I know. He sold the VHT name to them and the current VHT designs are their own. Some do indeed seem to be very nice, but one shouldn't think that old VHT and new VHT are the same.

the old VHTs are nothing like the new ones. Fryette sticks with awkwardly amazing big amps when VHT (owned by a shitty AXL brand) makes small/smallish amps nowhere near the former VHT quality

What do the depth and texture knobs do?

That's the thing...

Depth does something with lower mids/bass i'd say. it beefs the sound up
Texture... i don't know... something with mids, didn'T get it  kinda redundant to me
